Serena Haughbrook has dedicated 11 years of service to the Florida Army National Guard. She began her path in nursing at the age of 17, serving as a combat medic. She rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant during Operation Enduring Freedom, where she commanded a medical unit in Kabul. 

Starting her VA career in 2002, Serena advanced from a student nurse technician to a staff nurse, gaining expertise across various sectors, including labor and delivery and nursing management. In her current role at VA Sunshine Healthcare Network (VISN 8) Clinical Contact Center, Serena applies her critical thinking and exceptional triage abilities, significantly impacting veteran care. Her instrumental role in creating a Mental Health Quick Decision Tree exemplifies her dedication to enhancing triage processes and her deep commitment to improving veteran healthcare outcomes.
