Katie Lunning, serves as the Nurse Manager for the Intensive Care Unit at the Central
Iowa VA Health Care System. With a distinguished military background, including
service with the Minnesota Air National Guard's 133rd Airlift Wing, Katie has devoted
over 20 years to caring for Veterans. Her exemplary service was recognized with the
Distinguished Flying Cross for her valor in Afghanistan, and she was honored as Airman
of the Year by the Military Times Foundation. Her dedication is further evidenced by her
role in critical medical evacuations, where she provided lifesaving care under
challenging conditions, embodying the true spirit of resilience and commitment to her
fellow Veterans. Her leadership and clinical expertise are integral to the high-quality
care provided in the intensive care and telemetry units, reflecting a steadfast
commitment to Veteran health and resilience.
